Use ChatGPT to work through questions. Keep the evidence, saved findings and final decision in SkillNav.
Before you start: accept your SkillNav Preview workspace invitation. Your business needs an accepted playbook before you can approve assistant access.
Add SkillNav Preview in ChatGPT
On ChatGPT in a desktop browser, open Plugins. Choose +, then “Add custom MCP server”. Enter these settings:
Open ChatGPT Plugins- Name
- SkillNav Preview
- Server URL
https://skillnav-connector-preview.up.railway.app/mcp- Authentication
- OAuth
Leave advanced settings unchanged. No API key or client secret is needed.
Sign in with your own SkillNav account
Review ChatGPT’s notice, choose “Create as a plugin”, and complete sign-in with the account you use for SkillNav Preview. Install the plugin if prompted.
Choose the business it can use
Start a new ChatGPT conversation. Type @ and select SkillNav Preview, then send:
Connect SkillNav to my business and show me the business approval link.
Open the link ChatGPT returns. Select your business and choose “Approve this business connection”. Return to the same chat to continue.
Installing the plugin connects your account. Business access starts only after this separate approval.
Need help connecting?
I cannot see “Add custom MCP server”
Check that you are on ChatGPT in a desktop browser and in the intended account or workspace. Availability depends on your ChatGPT access and workspace policy; ask your workspace owner if the option is missing. You can still save notes and add findings directly in SkillNav.
My business is not listed
Use the SkillNav account that accepted the workspace invitation. Ask a workspace collaborator to check your membership and that the business playbook is accepted.
The approval request expired
Ask ChatGPT: “Connect SkillNav again”. Open the fresh link and approve within 10 minutes. If access was revoked or an approved connection expired, reconnect the plugin and review access again.
ChatGPT is missing the latest tools
Open SkillNav Preview in ChatGPT Plugins, use Refresh if shown, then start a new chat with the plugin selected. If it still cannot save, keep your notes in SkillNav and ask your workspace owner for help.
